About Fat Monkeys

Fat Monkeys is situated in the heart of Cape Maclear

Welcome to Fat Monkeys, where every guest finds their own adventure, whether you're here with family, friends, or on a solo journey. Located in the scenic heart of Cape Maclear, our lodge has a colorful history that began in 1998. It all started when three friends, over a casual drink, decided to create a place where fun, relaxation, and great company come together. Their nickname, 'The Fat Guys,' inspired the unique and playful name—Fat Monkeys!

Originally envisioned as a local bar, Fat Monkeys quickly became a popular hangout, and over time, it blossomed into much more. By 2009, under fresh management, the bar had transformed into a full-fledged lodge, offering not only accommodation but also a wide range of activities to keep our guests entertained. Today, we proudly provide a diverse mix of lodging options to suit any traveler—from families seeking a peaceful getaway, to backpackers on a budget, to adventurers looking to explore everything Cape Maclear has to offer.

Whether you're looking to relax by the beach, enjoy a sunset boat cruise, or dive into exciting water sports, Fat Monkeys has it all. With activities ranging from kayaking, snorkeling, and hiking, to bird watching and cultural tours, we cater to both the adventurous spirit and those who simply want to unwind.
